First impression: Fresh Umbrian Clay Purifying Mask

I’m back! Did you miss me?

I’ve been having major issues with my skin lately.

I attribute it to holiday stress, not eating right because of the aforementioned holidays (but really, who doesn’t mainline desserts at Christmas?!), and general laziness when it comes to my skincare. I’ve also been trying some new stuff that I don’t think my face was too excited about.

So rather than using my tried and true products and waiting it out, I decided to use a new mask that I’ve been eyeballing for a long time.

I got the smaller, less expensive size and waited until I had my annual $20 off coupon so I didn’t pay full price for it. I can’t imagine any circumstance under which I’d pay the full price for this, which is $62(!!!).

Anyway, it’s an interesting color. Dan is used to seeing me in black or brown clay masks, but this is more like a light olive or baby poop green so he felt the need to comment. It doesn’t have the typical mud or clay mask smell; lately I’ve been using some of these masks that just straight up stink, but this doesn’t smell bad. It has that earthy mud smell but not in a gross way, and it kind of reminds me of those rosemary¬†and olive oil crackers that you get in the fancy section of the grocery store.

This mask dries down like most clay masks, but it’s not so stiff that I can’t talk or smile so that’s kind of nice, especially when my boyfriend is (affectionately) mocking my mask face. I need to be able to retaliate. It’s vital to the health of our relationship.

I really like the way my skin feels after using this mask. It feels clean and matte but not dry or dehydrated. I’ve only used it twice so I don’t know if it’ll do anything for my skin long-term, but it already looks better. I haven’t gotten any new breakouts, and some of the texture has gone away. These are very good things. I can’t stand when my skin looks like garbage.

So yes, I like the extremely expensive mask. I’m now on a mission to find something comparable that doesn’t cost more than $15.

  1. Fresh makes amazing products but they are so freaking expensive! I love the Soy Face Cleanser but $38 for a 5 oz tube hurts. I have had samples but finally got the full size as a Christmas gift.
