What am I reading? Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick

I don’t really know why I decided to read this book. Anna Kendrick is cool and whatever, but I’m not really into reading celebrity biographies. Especially when that celebrity is relatively young and has only done a handful of stuff.

It’s not that I’m dismissing Anna’s accomplishments; she’s been acting for most of her life and, according to this book, it’s something she’s always wanted to do. She was on Broadway and was nominated for an Oscar for her first major film role, so I’m not ragging on her. There’s something about this book that just rubbed me the wrong way.

So, in this book, Anna talks about her family, her upbringing and her career. She doesn’t talk much about Pitch Perfect, which is arguably her most recognizable role. The vast majority of this book is Anna talking about being famous and how she’s so awkward that she’d rather do basically anything else. Part of me gets that. Part of me gets annoyed about celebrities whining about being celebrities.

I don’t know… I didn’t hate this book, but I also didn’t really enjoy it. I finished it, which says something. Books I really hate don’t get finished. I just wasn’t terribly interested once I started, and as a result, I didn’t really retain much of what I read. If you’re a fan of Anna, check it out. If you’re more interested in a good book, maybe skip this one.
