Spring anti-haul: stuff I won’t be purchasing

Happy Spring, friends!

If you’re lucky you’ve had spring weather for more than a week. I’m currently in northern Michigan with Dan and there are still snowbanks here, though it’s been consistently above freezing so they’re rapidly disappearing. I head home to NY next week, and from what I hear their weather has been pretty good. Fingers crossed it stays that way. I’m really tired of winter.

Aside from the nice weather, I’m also really excited about spring launches! Some of the stuff being released this spring looks… interesting. There’s a lot of stuff I’m really not interested in, some of it is boring af and some of it is a straight-up horror show (more highlighting drops? Are you serious?!). So here’s a short list of the things I won’t be purchasing, in no particular order:

Urban Decay Beached Eyeshadow Palette

I love Urban Decay. I could not possibly care less about this palette. I don’t like the vertical format, the colors do nothing for me and the price seems a bit steep. Kudos on the cool packaging though.

MAC Prep + Prime Fix + Shimmer

Why WHYYYYY would you want to spray glitter on your face? It doesn’t look glowy; it looks like you were in an arts and crafts fight with a toddler.

Benefit Blush Bar Cheek Palette

Dear Benefit, for the love of all that’s holy, please create some new products to put in these palettes. You make great stuff, but the redundancy is killing me.

Morphe x Bretman Babe in Paradise Highlighter Palette

Aren’t we over the whole concept of highlighter palettes yet? No one is going to use all of those shades, and a reasonable person won’t need this much highlighter in a lifetime. Also, what in the hell is a high impact highlighter? Sounds like some glittery nonsense to me.

Makeup Revolution Liquid Highlighter

Another. Freaking. Highlighter.

I know that Makeup Revolution gets dragged for their lack of creativity, and sometimes they deserve it. This is one of those times.

Benefit 3D BROWtones Instant Eyebrow Fun Color Highlights

A+ for effort here Benefit. This is something new and different that not many people are doing. It’s also not something we asked for or want.

Too Faced Natural Eyes Palettes

I had both of these. I decluttered them. It doesn’t look like they’ve changed anything other than the packaging and a few shade names. Heaven forbid a Too Faced product not have a blatantly sexual shade name.

Milk Makeup KUSH High Volume Mascara

… seriously? I wonder if the folks at Milk ran out of ideas, smoked a bowl and watched Spongebob, and this was the product that was born.

Becca Hydra-Mist Set and Refresh Powder

Supposedly this has a “mist-like” effect on skin and is formulated with water and glycerin. New and innovative, sure, but from everything I’ve seen it doesn’t really work in practice, and this stuff is too expensive for me to take a leap of faith.

So there’s my list… which products will you be skipping this spring?
