Attempting to make words

It’s more difficult today than it has been in a long time. I’m just so tired. And not like “I need a nap” tired, but more like “Living is exhausting” tired.

Dan and I spent the weekend in Rochester trying to get ready to move. His wonderful, patient oldest sister helped us pack a bunch, but because I spent half the time we were there working, I basically did nothing. Watching other people handle my life for me is more difficult than I anticipated it would be.

We also had a family wedding. There was some drama, because it wouldn’t be a wedding without at least one dumb family fight, but overall it was a good time. One of my favorite young cousins was in town unexpectedly and it was good to see her, though I really wish I’d had more time to spend with all of the out of town family. I didn’t get a chance to see my grandma either, and I really hate that we didn’t have more time. Because I was working and we had some family time we’re not entirely ready to move, so we’ll be back next weekend to do it all over again.

In the meantime, I live in Albany, officially. I say “officially” because even though there still isn’t any furniture in this apartment and only like a quarter of my makeup is here, the mailman thinks I live here. I’ll be getting my BoxyCharm here. I’m really looking forward to getting settled, making some friends, yadda yadda. One of my childhood friends lives in the area and it’s the first time we’ve lived in the same city in… 18 years? I’m looking forward to spending time with her and her adorable kid, and while she has an established group of friends here she’s already made efforts to include me in activities and I’m really happy about that. I’ve also joined a writer’s group and, most importantly, obtained a library card. I’m on my way to being a full-fledged resident.

While I was in Rochester this weekend I continued trying a bunch of new stuff, like the Benefit Hello Happy foundation, and I finally feel like I’ve spent enough time with this stuff on my face to do reviews. Yay! I also somehow ended up buying four of almost the same color of Anastasia lipsticks on National Lipstick Day so I plan to talk about those too.

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and you’re ready for the week. I am not. So I’m off to read a book and pretend it’s still Friday.
