How you doin’?

Hello internet friends!

I’m fried. Between work and other life nonsense, I’m feeling pretty burned out. It’s actually mostly because of work. I’ve been unhappy in my job for a while, and the powers that be have implemented some changes to mitigate our misery, but ultimately, I work in customer support. Support reps everywhere are routinely raged at, insulted, threatened and demeaned, and our members have no qualms about doing all of the above. There’s not much that our management can do about terrible people who treat us like their emotional punching bags. My only saving grace is that I don’t have to talk to anyone on the phone.

So, what’s next? It’s almost spooky season, so I have some creepy adventures planned. I’ll also be home visiting and going to events that require makeup, so I’ll be continuing to test out the stuff from my birthday haul. There were gift cards so I had to shop, and it was lovely. I’m really good at spending money that isn’t mine.

I’m also going on a bunch of trips: a few home, of course, but I’m also hoping to go see my Wife and Wife-in-law. In October I’m going to Austin for a conference, like a real adult with a career. I’ve never been to Texas, and work let me pad my trip with an extra day so I have a little time to explore. I’m looking for creepy things to do. It’s going to be amazing, and I’ll get some barbeque.

So what are you up to? Anything cool happening in your world?

  1. I’ll officially start my new job on Friday (I’m currently temping there – it’s how they can pay two people at the same time for the same position so I can shadow the lady vacating her position)…I finally feel like things are falling into place after nearly one year since my boss of 9 years died. I’m looking forward to life making sense again. 🙂

  2. Thanks for this article! It’s nice to find more people with the same advocacy on mental health through starting a conversation. I delivered a speech to college students last Saturday. It’s titled ‘The situation is a lot more nuanced than that: A meditation on mental health through Crazy ex-girlfriend.’ I decided to post a four-part lecture on it on my WordPress page.
    Here is the second part:
    Meanwhile, here’s the first part:

Thank you for reading my posts and I hope that you give me thoughts on my speech. Follow me too. Be well!
