Review: SheaMoisture Peace Rose Oil Complex Nourish & Silken Shampoo and Conditioner

Wow, it’s been awhile since I reviewed a shampoo and conditioner.

A friend who happens to be a hairdresser recommended that I try SheaMoisture hair products, and since she knows what she’s talking about, I went for it. I like the Peace Rose face mask, and that was the whole basis for me purchasing these.

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m a really good girlfriend. And because I’m such a good girlfriend, I make sure that my man has plenty of quality shower products even though he’s hundreds of miles away. So this stuff lives in his tiny shower in Michigan. His sister was visiting over Easter weekend and fell in love with it, so I had high hopes.

Sadly, I was disappointed.

Pros: I love the way these smell. The bottles are relatively small so they’re not terribly obtrusive in Dan’s shower. A little bit of the shampoo goes a long way and it makes my hair feel clean without stripping it. I like that the conditioner has a pump. They’re not super expensive.

Cons: The biggest con for me is that they aren’t as moisturizing as I expected. Or really at all. The conditioner is a bit thin and when I put it in my hair it just disappears and doesn’t feel like anything is there. It’s hard to comb once I’m out of the shower and tangles really easily. It just doesn’t feel nice, and that’s really what I’m looking for from a conditioner. Also, the price: while it’s not high end, it’s significantly more expensive than other drugstore brands. It’s usually BOGO 50% off at Ulta, but even then the pair is close to $20.

Overall, I’m not impressed, and I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing.
